About Us

Starting spring 2020, founders Bill & Carter believed that the Adirondacks were ready for community-scale composting. With a “we can do this” attitude, Blue Line Compost collected more than 27,000 pounds of kitchen waste from local businesses and residents in that first year. By the end of 2021, we were collecting an average of 3,785 pounds of waste weekly. Composting that much organic matter is equal to keeping 20 metric tons of carbon emissions from entering the Earth’s atmosphere (or from driving over 50,000 miles in a gas powered car!).

When our kitchen scraps go to landfills, it generates Methane, a greenhouse gas with 25 times more global warming potential than Carbon Dioxide. Composting is an effective way to reduce your carbon footprint while feeding the soil that helps to grow more healthy food. Blue Line Compost is proud to close the loop on waste to support people, plants, and the planet.
